Skylar, my best friend for 11 and a half years. Has passed away , and the silence she has left behind is hard to describe. Wherever I went, she went. Even to work. She was my shadow, my companion, and the brightest part of every day.
In her honour, SH2 132, the Lion Nebula, will now be known as AOE 5 Skylar’s Nebula to me. It feels right. She had the heart of a lion.
Processing this project was emotional in every possible way. I rage‑quit more than twenty times, walked away, came back, swore at the screen, and eventually pushed through. The final editing time was seven hours and fifty‑three minutes, and every minute of it was for her.
The Offer
To mark her 11 and a half years with me, I am offering 20 hours of wide‑angle H O S data to 11 people, one for each year she was by my side.
Experience does not matter.
If you only have a Seestar and have never processed H O S before, that is absolutely fine.
If you are an experienced processing expert, also fine.
Like Skylar, I will be a little selective, but only in a positive way. I will choose based on whatever feels right.
I also have a 50 hour close‑up portrait of the region.
You are welcome to ask for it, and I will see.
One Request
If you process the data and upload it on this app, please title it:
SH2 132 Skylar
or
AOE 5 Skylar
On AstroBin, Instagram, Facebook and elsewhere, you are welcome to use the traditional name SH2 132 the Lion Nebula.
This is my way of keeping her beside me for a little longer.
Thank you for reading, and thank you to anyone who wants to give Skylar’s nebula their own touch.
