Haunting Orion: The Boogeyman, M78, and the Horsehead
Wide-field view of the Boogeyman Nebula region featuring M78 and the Horsehead Nebula, captured with a Samyang 135mm lens and Antlia Quad Band filter. I’ve always wanted to image this area with a wide-field setup to frame these famous objects together with the surrounding hydrogen-alpha structures. Processing was a bit challenging because of the strong Ha signal and the faint Boogeyman Nebula, making it tricky to bring out the details without introducing too much noise. In the end, I’m very pleased with how this edit turned out. Fun fact: the dark shapes in this image aren’t empty space, they’re dense clouds of cosmic dust blocking the glowing hydrogen nebula behind them. #To the depths of the universe#
